Privacy Policy

Last updated February 28, 2026

Quietly Build is a personal workspace. What you write here — your intentions, reflections, and ideas — is yours. This policy explains what we collect, why, and how it's protected. We've written it to be read, not archived.

1. Who We Are

Quietly Build is operated as an independent product at quietly.build. Questions about this policy can be directed to support@quietly.build.

2. What We Collect

Account information

Your email address, and optionally a display name and a one-line description of what you're building. These are only used to identify your account and personalize your experience.

Ritual content

Morning intentions you set and evening reflections you write. This content is private to your account and forms the core of your journal history.

Focus sessions

Session start and end times, duration, your chosen status tag (e.g. building, writing), and any session intention you write. Used to calculate streaks and show your progress over time.

Journal entries and ideas

Text you write in the journal and ideas you capture. Stored privately and never shared with other users.

Ambient presence data

When you're in an active session, a minimal broadcast is sent to our real-time server containing only your session status tag and a timestamp — no name, no account identifier. This data is ephemeral and never stored. It's used solely to power the ambient presence counter ("47 founders building right now") and is discarded the moment your session ends.

Usage data

Basic technical data such as browser type and device type, collected automatically when you use the app. We don't use third-party analytics trackers or advertising pixels.

3. Google Calendar Integration

Quietly Build offers an optional connection to your Google Calendar. This integration is entirely opt-in and can be disconnected at any time from your settings.

When connected, Quietly Build requests read-only access to your calendar events using the scope calendar.events.readonly. This allows Quietly Build to display your upcoming events alongside your morning intention ritual — for example, surfacing that you have a 2pm call so you can plan your focus blocks accordingly.

We do not:

  • Create, edit, or delete calendar events on your behalf
  • Store your calendar data on our servers beyond the current session
  • Share your calendar data with any third party
  • Use calendar data for advertising or profiling

Your Google Calendar access token is stored securely and associated only with your account. It is used exclusively to fetch today's events at the time you open Quietly Build.

Quietly Build's use of Google Calendar data complies with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

4. How We Use Your Data

  • To provide and operate Quietly Build's core features
  • To calculate and maintain your ritual streaks
  • To generate your weekly summaries and progress narratives
  • To send transactional emails (account confirmation, password reset, session notifications)
  • To display ambient presence counts during focus sessions
  • To improve the app based on aggregate, anonymised usage patterns

We do not sell your data. We do not use your ritual content, journal entries, or ideas for model training or advertising.

5. Data Retention

Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all associated data — rituals, sessions, journal entries, and ideas — is permanently deleted within 30 days. Anonymised aggregate data (e.g. total ritual completions with no user identifier) may be retained for product analytics.

6. Your Rights

You can, at any time:

  • Request a copy of your data
  • Request deletion of your account and all associated data
  • Disconnect any third-party integration (Google Calendar, etc.) from settings
  • Update or correct your account information

To exercise any of these rights, email support@quietly.build.

7. Security

All data is transmitted over HTTPS. We follow industry-standard practices for credential storage and access control.

8. Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we'll notify you by email before they take effect. The "last updated" date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent revision.
